LoRaWAN

LoRaWAN (Long Range Wide Area Network) is a wireless communication technology designed for long-range, low-power transmission of data. It is a key technology in the Internet of Things (IoT), including the emerging field of Internet of Farm Things (IoFT), which focuses on leveraging technology to improve the efficiency and sustainability of farming operations.

*
Networking Basics

The Internet of Farm Things (IoFT) uses interconnected devices, sensors and equipment in agricultural settings. In terms of networking basics, IoFT relies on a combination of wired and wireless technologies to enable communication between devices. IoFT networks may use Ethernet or Wi-Fi for local connections, while long-range communication can be achieved through cellular networks or satellite links.

Read & Write

The ability to read and write data, coupled with the Internet of Farm Things (IoFT), has significant implications for the agricultural industry. With read-and-write capabilities, farmers can access and modify data related to weather patterns, soil quality, crop growth and livestock health in real-time, allowing them to make informed decisions about their operations.

*
Systems Integration

Systems integration involves combining various technologies and components into a unified and cohesive system. This system allows farmers to monitor and control multiple aspects of their operations, including irrigation, fertilization and pest management, using a combination of sensors, software and cloud-based platforms.
