Successful entrepreneurs must possess a high level of expertise in their industry, and they must continuously innovate and improve their products, services and business models to stay competitive. This requires a strong commitment to lifelong learning, as well as a willingness to take risks and experiment with new ideas and approaches.

“Getting Stuff Done” refers to the ability to act and execute on ideas and plans to achieve business goals. This trait involves a combination of focus, discipline and a bias toward action, as well as the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. Successful entrepreneurs must be able to turn their ideas into tangible results, whether it be developing a product prototype, launching a marketing campaign, or closing a deal with investors or customers.

Leader

A leader possesses the personal qualities and characteristics often associated with successful team management. These traits include creativity, risk-taking, perseverance, adaptability and the ability to inspire and motivate others. Successful leaders in innovation and entrepreneurship are often known for their ability to identify opportunities, take calculated risks and turn challenges into opportunities.

“Face” in innovation/entrepreneurship traits of success refers to the importance of reputation, credibility and personal branding in the entrepreneurial world. A successful entrepreneur must develop a strong personal brand and build a reputation for excellence, trustworthiness and innovation to attract customers, investors and business partners.

Nerd

The term, nerd, can refer to an individual who is considered highly intelligent, curious and passionate about their areas of interest. They tend to be detail-oriented and enjoy solving complex problems, often delving deep into the intricacies of a subject to gain a thorough understanding. They are typically very organized and disciplined, with a strong work ethic and a willingness to put in long hours to achieve their goals.

Various career awareness opportunities are made available to you and your school including:

  • classroom presentations about NPPD careers or specific careers if a subject matter expert is available;
  • attending your school's career fair;
  • coordinating student tours of NPPD facilities; and
  • making career materials available to you

9–12th Graders: Research your career pathway options more in depth and start making college, financial aid, and scholarship decisions.

Postsecondary Students: Make sure you are on track with your plans. And don't forget to create a resume, practice interviewing skills, and look for job opportunities in Nebraska.
