It is the belief that the best way to stand out and succeed in a competitive market is to constantly iterate and improve upon existing products or services or create entirely new ones.

“Make it: DO” refers to taking an idea and actively working to bring it to life through experimentation, prototyping and iteration. It embodies the maker’s mentality in innovation and entrepreneurship, emphasizing hands-on learning, problem-solving and a willingness to fail and learn from mistakes.

“Make an IMPACT” is a mindset and approach to innovation and entrepreneurship that emphasizes the importance of creating products or solutions that positively impact society and the world. It is about using creativity, skills and resources to tackle real-world problems and make a difference in people’s lives. Makers with this mentality focus on developing products that are not only innovative and useful but also socially responsible and sustainable.

“Make it: YOU” is a phrase that embodies the maker’s mentality in innovation and entrepreneurship. It encourages individuals to actively create and shape their lives by leveraging their skills, creativity and resources to bring their ideas to life. The maker’s mentality emphasizes the importance of taking action, being resourceful and iterating quickly to achieve success.

Making A Makerspace

Creating a makerspace is an excellent way to foster innovation and entrepreneurship. A makerspace is a collaborative workspace that provides individuals with the tools, resources, and support they need to design, create, and innovate new products. To successfully establish a working makerspace, you need to identify the needs of your community and gather the necessary resources, including funding, tools and real estate.

Teacher Resources

Various career awareness opportunities are made available to you and your school including:

  • classroom presentations about NPPD careers or specific careers if a subject matter expert is available;
  • attending your school's career fair;
  • coordinating student tours of NPPD facilities; and
  • making career materials available to you

9–12th Graders: Research your career pathway options more in depth and start making college, financial aid, and scholarship decisions.

Postsecondary Students: Make sure you are on track with your plans. And don't forget to create a resume, practice interviewing skills, and look for job opportunities in Nebraska.
